Helicopter rescued man who rolled car 100m down Waikato hill
An injured man had to spend the night in his car after crashing through a fence and down a 100 metre hill in the Waikato.
The 55-year-old hurt his leg and hip in the crash that occured at 11pm on Kawhia Rd. He went through a fence and down the hill.
He tried to make his way back up to the road but with his injuries and the wet, steep hill he decided to wait out the night in his car to avoid further trouble.
The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter picked the man up from a farm paddock this morning. He told them he lost control due to aquaplaning on road surface water.
It is believed his dog assisted in raising the alarm at a nearby residence this morning.
