It was a disappointing way for Steve Bruce to get his Aston Villa career off the mark as he saw his side draw with Wolves in the Championship. They were in fact lucky to come away with a point as Wolves seemed far more likely to take the win. After watching his side escape with a point, Steve Bruce spoke to the BBC about the game.

The point now leaves Aston Villa in 20th place, after they claimed their eighth draw of the campaign, leaving them just a single point above the relegation zone.

Steve Bruce obviously has a huge challenge ahead of him with Villa unable to banish the demons of their Premier League failure from the year before.

The new manager will have a lot of thinking to do over the next few weeks and he was left to lament his players lacking fitness. He told the BBC: "it's fair to say that some of them could be in better condition. I can now understand why they've been conceding late - but that's an easy one to sort.

"To play in the Championship, you have to have intensity. But we can work on that. There's a lot to be done and we can only get better. This is a wonderful football club with wonderful support".

It is very promising for Aston Villa's fans that their new manager has come in and been immediately able to identify the key areas in which they need to improve.

Villa's next game is a trip to seventh placed Reading, with Bruce looking for an immediate reaction to their derby draw.
