Paul Pogba has revealed how he rejected La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid in order to complete his £89million transfer to Manchester United.

The 23-year-old France international, who became the world’s most expensive footballer when he left Juventus to rejoin United, explained how his heart led him back to Old Trafford to solve the ‘unfinished business’ he had with the Premier League.

‘I came to Manchester United because I have certain goals. It is a big challenge for me,’ Pogba told SFR Sport.

‘I could also have joined Real Madrid or Barcelona, who were interested in signing me. But I chose to return to United because I followed my heart

Pogba, who endured a nightmare afternoon against Liverpool on Sunday, insisted the weight of a record transfer fee doesn’t distract him from his desire to win trophies at Manchester United.

‘I want to win trophies with Manchester United, I never won anything here. I always told myself that I would one day return to United. It is a club I love a lot and I had unfinished business here. I left because I wanted to play more, but I felt that I was not done here yet,’ he added.

‘I am not even thinking about the transfer fee. I came here to play football.’
