The current payment debacle between Ondo State Government and the
players and officials of both Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Queens took a
new dimension yesterday when the outgoing Governor of the State,
Olusegun Mimiko told the players that the Accountant General of the
State is missing.
In a telephone conversation with the team’s captain, Abbey Sunday, he
confirmed that the Governor told them that the Accountant General of
the State, Mr. Akindolire Herbert Olaolu is missing.
According to the captain, “we are on our way to the Government house
now, we just finished our training. The Governor told us yesterday that
the Accountant General is missing, but if they don’t answer us today, we
won’t play our game against Rivers United on Sunday.

who claimed to hurzle for money yesterday to share among his
colleagues to feed said that people who were calling to threaten them
earlier are no longer threatening them.
Ondo State Government is currently owing the players, officials and
staff of Ondo State Sports Agency, salaries ranges from 7 to 13 months.
In his reaction, Prof. Wale Adekoya a sportscaster has described the
declaration of the Governor as ‘Executive Rascality’. “If the
Accountant General of the State is truly missing, the Governor should
send the Police after him.”
According to Prof. it is not the Accountant General that pays salary but the Finance Commissioner.
Another Sports Journalist, Soji Dosumu who’s also a politician said
that the Accountant General decided to go on AWOL because he’s no longer
answerable to Mimiko led administration which will expire in about 48
hours from now.
